About...
Born in 1980 in Greater Manchester, I began my artistic journey studying at Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Salford. These formative years laid the foundation for my career as a professional artist. Today, I call the picturesque valley town of Todmorden in West Yorkshire my home, where I run a dedicated painting studio. Alongside creating my own work, I also share my passion by teaching Fine Art painting and drawing classes throughout the valley and beyond.
I also take on creative project commissions hich focus on social engagement, especially linked into arts for health benefits, and projects which connect people to place. I have been commissioned to work on projects for Greater Manchester Mental Health, Lucentia Design, The Manchester Museum, Manchester Art Gallery and Everybody Arts, and for many Local Authorities such as Burnley Council, Tameside MBC, Calderdale Council, Manchester Council and many more.
I have also been teaching Fine Art painting and drawing classes for over 10 years as both a visiting tutor in schools and colleges, and a private art tutor. I have successfully running my own art classes for 8 years. Pease visit the classes section to view a full list of all of my classes.

My work...
My create practice has always been centered around the visual relationship between the natural and man made environments in which we experience from day to day. I am often drawn to locations where both of theme elements collide, documenting them as I discover them as a series of photos and sketches. These act as prompts and reminders back in the studio, where I playfully construct new, hand painted landscapes on to canvas.
They are often suggestive of both the built environments, which I explore through geometric, hardedge and repeat pattern, and the natural environment which I explore through colour, texture and perspective.
I enjoy painting with both acrylic and watercolour mediums. I sometimes choose to explore ideas in inks, working in monochrome to explore mark making. Quite often, these become a series of abstract works within their own right and are the seedling of ideas that transform into larger works.
